“Aid at Home” Program for the Elderly

The "Aid at Home" program presents an alternative approach for the caring of the elderly as it offers crucial services to them in their home and community. In this way, the social isolation of the elderly is limited and they have the opportunity to stay in their familiar environment when before their admission to a home for the elderly as their only choice.

The program targets elder people that are lonely, unable to take care of themselves alone, or lack the economic resources to ensure their well-being. Thus, the main aim of the program is to provide these people with specialized constant aid (on a daily basis or according to need) and to help them improve their quality of life in their own environment.

The scientific personnel of the program included a social worker for psychological support, a specialized nurse, and a domestic servant to help them with their personal needs everyday chores (such as cooking, bathing, shopping and cleaning the house).
