The Municipal District of Aghios Konstantinos
Aghios Konstantinos is situated west from the city of Agrinio, further from the Municipal Park. According to the municipality's register 76,7% of the residents of Aghios Konstantinos originate from Asia Minor; 19,4% from Pontos; 3,4% from Russia and 0,5% from Istanbul.
Aghios Konstantinos is a municipality since 1995.
The Municipal District of Dokimi
Dokimi is situated 3km southwest from the city of Agrinio. In the past, the village was situated 2km southeast from its present location, in the position of "Paliochoria", where the ruins of a paleo-Christian temple are found. The village was moved from its previous location because its residents suffered from the high humidity and a malaria outbreak. Furthermore, the village was threatened by the presence of the Turks that resided in the nearby settlement of "Zapanti". Due to these reasons, the residents decided to abandon the village and settle in a safer location. In this way, the present village of Dokimi was established.
Dokimi used to be part of the Municipality of Agrinio. It became a separate community in 1912.
The Municipal District of Kalyvia
Leaving the village of Dokimi behind, about 20 minutes away from Agrinio, you meet the community of Kalyvia, built in the highest point of the wider lowland area. The settlement was built there because it was the only safe position from the floods of the river "Acheloos. The name of the village probably derives from the huts (in Greek: "kalyvia") where the first residents lived.
Kalyvia was part of the Municipality of Agrinio until 1914, when it became a separate community.
The Municipal District of Kamaroula
The village of Kamaroula is situated 3km northeast from the city of Agrinio. The region was first inhabited in 1927. Its first residents settled there after buying the land, and originated from the village "Kruoneria" of Naupaktia. Kamaroula has an urban plan since it was first inhabited. The name "kamaroula" probably derives from a bridge (in Greek: "kamara") that existed in the village.
Kamaroula was part of the Municipality of Agrinio from 1927 to 1963, when it became a separate community.
The Municipal District of Aghios Nikolaos
3km away from Kamaroula, after crossing the bridge "Beley" that connects the two shores of the river "Ermitsa", you meet the small community of Aghios Nikolaos. The community is built in a semi-mountainous area and was first inhabited in 1935. Its first residents originated from the village "Stavrochori" of Evritania. The village beared the Turkish name "Retziperi" until 1950, when it was re-named "Aghios Nikolaos" after the homonym church in the village.
Aghios Nikolaos was part of the Municipality of Agrinio until 1980. It became a separate community in 1981.
The Municipal District of Skoutetsiada
The small community of Skoutetsiada, along with the settlement of "Raina", is situated 14km away from the Municipality of Agrinio. The village was first inhabited during the Turkish period by a captain from the island of Kefalonia, who took part in many uprisings against the Turks and took refuge in the region. He established the Monastery of "Aghia Zoni" as his base camp, and from there he organized numerous successful attacks against the Turks. Thus, the village of Skoutetsiada is considered a heroic village, as many people sacrificed their lives in the struggle for freedom.
Skoutetsiada became a separate community in 1919.
