The Municipal Park of Agrinio is the largest public recreational space in the city, offering an ideal environment to relax and enjoy nature. The park covers an area of 54 hectares.

The foundation of the park started about eighty six years ago, when the Papastratos family bought this land in 1919 and gradually transformed in into a park for the residents of Agrinio. Nowadays, the Municipality of Agrinio plans to upgrade the park through the "Park Reformation" program of the 4rth Community Support Framework. According to this program, supported by scientific studies, it is very important to plant the park with trees and plants of the local flora, in order to preserve and promote the particularities of the region's natural environment and vegetation. Another goal of the program is to plant 12 more hectares in the park and to create walking trails, recreational areas, as well as thematic gardens, mainly for educational purposes. For instance, there will be a "garden on memory", filled with tobacco plants -the landmark of the region- which were extensively cultivated in the area and played an important role in the local economy.
