The athletic-social organization "Panaitolikos" was founded in 1926 to promote the athletic spirit of the young people as an important part of their education. The organization set the education of poor children as a top priority and founded Evenings Schools and became a model organization in Greece. Thus, the organization was not only concerned with athletic activities but also with social issues during the difficult periods in Greek history.  For these reasons, Panaitolikos is highly respected and supported as an organization in Agrinio.  New classes have been created, such as volleyball, basketball and many more.

However, Panaitolikos is famous for its soccer team. In 1954-55 the soccer team of Panaitolikos was among the six (6) best Greek soccer teams and won many games and prizes. Since then, the soccer team of Panaitolikos continues to make Agrinio proud.

Panaitolikos continues to expand its activities and has also renovated the stadium, which is considered a real jewel for the city. With the support of the community, the organization of Panaitolikos will realize all its goals and will eventually make it to the top!
