The Municipal Regional Theatre of Agrinio was founded in 1981 and was the first municipal theatre founded in Greece, while in 1983 it was incorporated to the institution of the Municipal Regional Theatres.

The theatre features some of the best theatre and theatre education programs for children, teenagers and adults, as well as special seminars for teachers. In its effort to promote theatre, the Municipal Regional Theatre of Agrinio has founded new spaces for theatrical performances and for courses.
