Temples
The Church of Agrinio is under the authority of the Holy Metropolis of Aitolia & Akarnania, which has its headquarters in Mesologgi.
Aghios Christoforos is the protector Saint of Agrinio. There are two temples dedicated to him in the city.
The old temple of Aghios Christoforos was built in 1847 and is located in the park north from the city, while the new temple was founded in 1920 and the opening ceremony was in 1937. His memory is celebrated on May 9 and this day is a holiday in Agrinio and a religious celebration takes place.
The Holy Metropolis in Agrinio has founded orphanages, a Byzantine music school, bookstores, and is involved in many other social, religious and cultural activities.
